Alicia Chantrey is associate general counsel and head of intellectual property at Associated British Foods plc, based in London. She advises on the strategic management of intellectual property for ABF’s diverse portfolio of international food, ingredients and retail businesses. Alicia works closely with R&D, commercial, marketing and legal teams to ensure that IP investment is aligned with business priorities and delivers measurable value. Her experience includes overseeing global trade mark portfolios, engaging external counsel, and supporting decision making on freedom to operate, enforcement and portfolio optimisation. From an in house perspective, she is particularly interested in how organisations can deploy finite legal resources efficiently, balancing risk, cost and commercial impact.
