Mitain has been working as a senior IP counsel at Canon EMEA for close to four years, supporting one of the world’s leading imaging companies and best known brands. He has over seven years of in-house experience in technology, media and energy sectors, following eight years in private practice. He is a qualified solicitor with an LLM in Intellectual Property Management and an MSci in chemistry. He is responsible for a wide range of IP-related activities throughout the EMEA region, including the management of trademark portfolios and managing IP disputes (just not patents!) to supporting everything from high-impact marketing campaigns and sponsorships, sales of high-value semiconductor manufacturing equipment, procurement and sales of complex IT solutions, and the governance of Artificial Intelligence usage (which he’s still not sure whether to be excited or terrified about).
