Mr Tan Kong Hwee assumed the role of chief executive at the Intellectual Property Office of Singapore (IPOS) and chairman of IPOS International in March 2025. He is deeply committed to IPOS’ mission to drive future economic growth for Singapore through intangible assets and intellectual property. Prior to IPOS, Mr Tan was an executive vice president and member of the executive committee from late 2019 at the Singapore Economic Development Board (EDB). In his 19 years at the EDB, he was responsible for developing several industries including aerospace, mobility, design and space. He drove account management excellence and dabbled at branding, marketing and public communications as an Executive Committee member. In the earlier part of his career, Mr Tan was also posted to Tokyo and London for six years. Mr Tan started his career in the Singapore public service at the Ministry of Home Affairs shortly after he graduated from Kyoto University with a Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
